Pokémon Scarlet and Violet: The Teal Mask DLC is a breezy new addition to the Gen 9 games, taking trainers to the land of Kitakami for a folklore-inspired tale about a mysterious ogre and the island's three protectors. Pokémon is, overall, a critic-proof franchise, and anyone who enjoyed the base games will enjoy the DLC.
Combat in The Teal Mask DLC is overly easy, even by Pokémon standards. Anyone who's beaten the base games should be over-leveled for both the trainer battles and the wild Pokémon that cover Kitakami. The fights with Carmine and other characters are interesting and may take some thought or strategy for under-leveled teams or newcomers who jumped into the DLC, but the mechanics will most likely be lost on parties who can one-shot anything these trainers throw at them.
Pokémon Scarlet & Violet: The Teal Mask Performance Overview The performance of The Teal Mask is the only negative here - and it's a big one. Graphics have been a point of contention for Pokémon games for quite some time, and frame rate drops are as persistent here as they were in the Scarlet and Violet base games. Despite being a much smaller area, the performance problems of Paldea have spread to Kitakami.
