Reviews for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet have landed, with most critics calling Game Freak's latest title another step forward for the franchise, but one held back by some frustrating performance issues.

Reviews for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet have arrived, and the latest entry has been met with largely positive critical opinion despite some performance issues. Scarlet and Violet has been billed as the first truly open-world Pokémon title, offering players the freedom to choose their in-game path. The latest Pokémon entry is set in the Paldea region, with players attending either Naranja or Uva Academy where they will balance schoolwork and building up their Pokédex.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Although Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet have their differences, the critical consensus on both of them has been that they're solid titles that are held back by some performance limitations of the Nintendo Switch. It seems that the title absolutely delivers on its open-world promises, which is a significant accomplishment for the series.

Cody Gravelle - 4.5/5 - Screen Rant The highs are undoubtedly compelling and noteworthy, while the lows - especially performance ones - feel like they shouldn't be present in a AAA release from a studio and franchise with this much experience. All things considered, Pokémon Scarlet & Violet is a must-play adventure for everyone, even for those who have yet to take the first step on their own Pokémon journey.

However, despite these issues, the three story campaigns of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet shine through the lag and pop in as generally favorable experiences, and Generation 9 Pokémon have been praised for their designs. While the game doesn't reinvent the wheel, and some fans were likely hoping that an open-world title would take more leaps than this release appears to have, the game as a whole seems to have left a positive impression.

It's the pokemon game we all dreamed of but I've seen the game run undocked firsthand and it's crazy how sluggish it is. trsrpc is a witness
