Pokémon GO's Mountains of Power Event Launches January 7th

Pokémon GO's Mountains of Power event is launching in just two days and there's a lot to be excited for. Since Pokémon GO began to decline from the mainstream popularity it enjoyed on its initial release, events have been developer Niantic's way of keeping the game exciting and new for its players.

Major events in Pokémon GO are always worth looking forward to as they commonly offer opportunities to catch rare or even unique Pokémon. Events also often grant players free bonus raid passes, allowing them extra opportunities to capture powerful and rare Pokémon, as well as reaping the rewards for completing the raids themselves. The draw of such events also makes finding other players trying to complete high-level raids more likely, making them easier to beat.

The Mountains of Power event is part of Pokémon GO's Season Of Heritage hailing the upcoming game Pokémon Legends: Arceus which is due to be released near the end of this month. Many of the Pokémon featured in this event, especially those seeing increases in their wild spawn rates are Pokémon that would commonly be found in caves in classic Pokémon games: Onix, Zubat, Machop, etc.

The Mountains of Power is not the only event Niantic has planned for the first month of 2022. As part of the same announcement, they also revealed that the January Pokémon GO Community Day for 2022 will feature Bulbasaur, in the first Pokémon GO Community Day Classic event.
