PLNU offense goes off in 23-9 and 20-16 victories that deliver PacWest tournament title and conference's automatic berth to NCAA Division II Regionals

Staying alive in the early going of the PacWest Championships was no laughing matter for the Point Loma Nazarene baseball team. That was left to Friday’s championship round. After coming within a couple outs Thursday of being the first team to exit the tournament, top-seeded

appeared like it would chuckle all the way to the championship, building an 11-run lead in the deciding game before hanging on for a 20-16 victory to take the title. The struggles were a distance memory by the time lost its tournament opener on Wednesday and was six outs away from exiting the event Thursday afternoon before completely turning things around with wins over Fresno Pacific and Azusa Pacific. Friday’s first game against Concordia actually saw the Sea Lions trailing 9-6 through four innings before they blew it open with 17 unanswered runs over their final five at-bats.
