LONDON - British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Saturday he would not negotiate a delay to Brexit, after lawmakers backed a proposal to withhold approval for his agreement until formal ratification legislation has passed. If a deal is not approved by parliament by the end of Saturday, Johnson is required by law to ask the European Union for a three-month delay to Brexit.

“I will not negotiate a delay with the EU and neither does the law compel me to do so,” Johnson told parliament after the vote. “I will tell our friends and colleagues in the EU exactly what I have told everyone else in the last 88 days that I have served as prime minister: that further delay would be bad for this country, bad for the European Union and bad for democracy.”

No extension I hope and we’ll get no deal default , go boris

What can he do? He can just proceed without the proper approval of the Parliament? Sorry for my ignorance :)

I don’t get it. Citizens voted for Brexit. Politicians seem to want to prevent what the citizens want. Why aren’t citizens pissed and backing Johnson? He seems to be fighting for the people.

No one asked him to “NEGOTIATE” a dely, only request one, he has no say on how long.

s9tmt No, but he will send the letter.

Trump-like defiance won't work; thankfully, UK still respects and adheres to parliamentary authority and rule of law. Hope he continues to defy and is summarily compelled by law or, preferably, he and his govt are removed by non-confidence motion.

Yes don’t. But you will be in contempt of parliament and the laws. You are in a fix sir.
