Clinics across New York are expecting to see more out-of-state abortion patients as states move to ban abortion in some parts of the U.S.

While abortion remains legal in New York, Friday's ruling is still going to have an impact on clinics here that will likely see more pateints who are traveling here for abortion services.Planned Parenthood of Greater New York has been preparing for a day like today for years.

"We are tapping into our network of healthcare professionals to hire more clinical and frontline staff," said Joy D. Calloway, the Interim President and CEO of Planned Parenthood of Greater New York. For those traveling from states that have banned abortion - designated patient navigators will be able to help.

Earlier this year, New York Governor Kathy Hochul announced a $35 million fund for reproductive health clinics to help with the anticipated surge of out-of-state patients. The state legislature also passed bills to protect medical providers from being charged in other states for providing abortions.
