Was it on autoland? That is really dangerous and if the pilot wasn't out of fuel there is no way they should have landed there with that crosswind. There must have been a more appropriate runway with the wind running in head-on direction. It's no time to be a hero.

This pilot does deserve a lot of credit but I can't stand and others treating this like it's some sort of near-disaster. It's a standard crosswind landing technique and it happens all the time.

Lovely landing however of note is that the 757 has the comparatively the most powerful engines to body ratio for a while hence easier than other aircraft to coax more power from the engines when needed eg “crabbing “
