TxDOT warns drivers to expect heavy traffic and advises them to plan ahead and get to their viewing location early. Drivers are also reminded not to pull over and park on the shoulder of highways to view the eclipse. Distractions while driving should be avoided, including the use of cell phones. TxDOT also encourages drivers to keep their headlights on during the solar eclipse.

Traffic is expected to be heavy Monday with sudden stops by drivers. Drivers should plan ahead and get their viewing location early.With the Great American Eclipse upon us, TxDOT is also warning drivers to plan for extra traffic and to get to their viewing location early. They also want drivers to know they should not be pulling over and parking on the shoulder of highways to view the eclipse.

Like always, drivers are encouraged to avoid distractions while driving - including putting their cell phone down, turning it off, or using the phone’s settings to block texts and calls while driving.TxDOT is also encouraging drivers to keep their headlights on while driving during the solar eclipse with skies expected to get dark.
