Angelina Morales and Lindsey McKnight along with other teammates express dismay after the home plate ump called Morales out in the sixth, keeping the score 1-0.HOUSTON - In a regional softball excursion that was punctuated by two tremendous bounce back`experiences, Deer Park fans witnessed an individual enjoy a bounce back effort Friday night.
Deer Park, a 7-5 winner over Pearland on Wednesday, finished the Region III tournament with a 9-2 record, winning their last five after Brazoswood had them down 1-0 in games, before the Lady Deer roared back with 9-4 and 3-2 wins to keep their fragile season alive. “I’m very blessed to be able to come back and win it for a second year in a row. I’m just pleased for the opportunity,” center fielder and team cheerleader Emma Overla said.
“It was absolutely superb. We had discussed about Applebe closing the game. There was something masterful about what she did tonight. I didn’t feel comfortable pulling her. She was so good at hitting her spots and changing speeds. It just didn’t feel right. So I left her in after I said I wasn’t going to and man, she was good,” Vidal said.
