Pike Road Schools band director to march in Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

A band director in Pike Road Schools has been chosen to be a part of a marching band of 400 band directors in this year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Patrick Darby will join other band directors from across the country as part of a parade entry with the theme, “America’s band directors: We teach music. We teach life.” It will recognize the dedication and accomplishments of band directors and music educators everywhere. “It is an honor to not only represent Pike Road, but to be a representative of the State of Alabama and all of the amazing band directors that teach across our country,” Darby said. “I hope our performance inspires directors and students alike to continue to pursue their passions and open the doors of opportunities that have been afforded to so many young musicians because of their gifts.”

The band will be directed by nationally-known music educator and innovative band director Jon Waters. The Michael D. Sewell Memorial Foundation is sponsoring this project.
