PICO RIVERA, Calif. -- Three women and a toddler are recovering in the hospital after the family's pit bulls attacked the young girl in Pico Rivera, forcing the family to kill their dogs to stop the attack.
Deputies responded to a dog bite call late Sunday night at the home near Homebrook Street and Pico Vista Road, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. Authorities say the two pit bulls attacked the 1-year-old child after she started crying.The dogs then apparently turned on the child's mother as she tried to stop the attack, biting her lip and face close to her eye.
The toddler's grandmother, Margaret Ann Morales, and her other daughter also suffered some injuries in the attack."I walked into the kitchen and that's when I ...my two daughters and my son on the floor trying to get the dogs off. Finally my daughter got up...and that's when I my granddaughter. I the dog was latched on her left leg. That's when I had to actually get my hand into his jaws and open them up and that's when he released her," she said.
Morales said the dogs continued to attack the other family members, prompting the toddler's mother to grab a knife and fatally stab the dogs.The animals were around 3 1/2 years old and had been with the family since they were puppies.
Pit bulls are so overbred and inbred. They may generally be nice dogs but I would not trust any dog with children escpecially not one that has such a powerful bite.
Pitbulls are practically unstoppable..
BAN THE BREED IMMEDIATELY. FORCE STERILIZATION. REMOVE ALL THEIR TEETH. ENOUGH ENOUGH ENOUGH.

Hopefully they are okay. No matter what anyone says Animals are animals. We love them. But they are still animals. Great mom. She took action. No judgement. No one has the right to say anything bad. God bless you. I pray for a quick and full recovery.
ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. I post about this all the time and I am laughed at but really, I'm having the last laugh. Go to national database for pit bull attacks- just about every day this happens and yet the people who rescue this breed and buy this breed are IDIOTS.
There are a lot of them in my NYC neighborhood. A vet told me stab them in the eye if they attach themselves to your leg or arm. Getting their jaws off is almost impossible. I steer clear of them.
This is tragic all the way around. I am so glad all humans came out of this alive and wiser. But I wonder if the dogs were jealous and saw the little girl as competition?
When will we ever learn?
This keeps on repeating itself. Not very wise to keep such killer machines. They should be banned.
Pitbulls should be banned, everyday unprovoked attacks by pitbulls happen and shelters are full with pitbulls nobody wants.
Sure blame the owners..they didn't love the dogs enough. Didn't buy it the right sneakers go to the right schools or buy cool dog toys stayed out late hung with wrong crowd. Cops are racist. Pit lives matter..did I for get anyone. Oh yeah ABCDEFU

If your not willing to TRAIN YOUR DOG then you shouldn’t own one. It’s not the Pits fault. I’m glad the little girl is ok and I wish harm on no one but I hate they (Pits) always get the blame. I have a 10 year old Red Nose and he’s by far the sweeting dog I’ve ever had
You’re better off with a pet Mountain Lion or Hyena.
