“The way I really feel about it is: We’re not trying to be a second Piccino,” bar manager Ani Miller told Eater SF. “We’re essentially trying to take the things that we love so much about Piccino already, and implement some of those influences into a different experience.”
The original Piccino, which opened inside the Yellow Building in 2006 from owner Margherita Sagan, has been a mainstay in the Dogpatch neighborhood since its inception. And it’s not going anywhere. Delectable pizzas and pastas will still complement the fine-tuned wine selection to fulfill the classic Italian food experience.
To create Bar Piccino, the restaurant group expanded its footprint inside the Yellow Building by taking over the retail space next door that used to belong to Modern Appealing Clothing. The new bar will focus heavily on cocktails, such as different riffs on negronis, and shareable bites for those who want a snack. The food at Bar Piccino will feature dishes that are not classic Italian, but will have some Italian influences.
