Hurricane Valley Fire & Rescue and rangers at the Sand Hollow State Park in Utah on Sunday, June 2, 2024, responded to a UTV fire that was sending black smoke into the air near the reservoir.
The skies above southern Utah's Sand Hollow Reservoir were streaked with black when a UTV caught fire, sending flames and smoke briefly across the area. The fire happened Sunday on the sand dunes adjacent to the reservoir, according to responding agency Hurricane Valley Fire & Rescue, which shared photos of the scene.
What appeared to be possibly a Razr brand side-by-side vehicle UTV was seen completely engulfed in flames in one photo. It was thankfully burning on the red sand, effectively preventing the fire from reaching the brush before crews could arrive. HVFR, along with Washington City Fire Department crews and rangers at Sand Hollow State Park responded and had the fire out soon afterward. Photos showed the charred skeleton of the UTV, with its tires and entire exterior completely burned away.
