f there’s one thing that Philadelphia residents and the city’s mayor, Jim Kenney, can agree on, it’s that everyone will be happy to see Kenney go.
Kenney, a Democrat elected in 2015, has overseen a massive surge in crime and gun violence that culminated in a shooting during the city’s Fourth of July festivities, leaving two police officers injured. In the last year, there have been 2,326 other shooting victims in the city — the highest number ever recorded since the city began keeping track in the 1960s.
“I don’t enjoy the Fourth of July. I don’t enjoy the Democratic National Convention. I didn’t enjoy the NFL draft,” Kenney said. “I’m waiting for something bad to happen all the time.I’m sure plenty of other Philadelphians are just as eager to see term-limited Kenney step down next year. But they won’t be able to enjoy the city he has helped to destroy. In fact, 63% of city residents said in a recent survey that they believe Philadelphia is seriously on the wrong track.
Kenney’s mismanagement and soft-on-crime approach are some of the reasons why. When he took office, the city recorded only 277 homicides. By 2021, that number had grown to 562 homicides. As of Monday, the city had already recorded 267 homicides this year. Kenney, along with the other Democrats running Philadelphia into the ground, has undermined the rule of law every step of the way. He and the Philadelphia City Council banned traffic stops for being “racially discriminatory,” agreed to cut back on the city’s police department budget, and allowed leftist District Attorney Larry Krasner to turn violent criminals loose left and right. And as a result, the city is failing to secure its citizens' most basic rights.
PhillyMayor KayleeDMcGhee Look carefully enough and you will see the same things occurring in cities around the nation. There can be a change and all it takes is just a vote. Vote those willing to serve the nation and its citizens not ones whom serve their political party.
