PG&E pleads guilty to 84 counts of involuntary manslaughter from the 2018 Camp Fire

The country’s largest utility pleaded guilty Tuesday to 84 felony counts of involuntary manslaughter stemming from one of the many wildfires that have ravaged parts of California in recent years.

Looking directly at the photos, PG&E CEO Bill Johnson repeatedly answered, “Guilty, your honor’’ to the charges. “We want this to be impactful because this can’t go on any longer,” Butte County District Attorney Mike Ramsey told The Associated Press. “There is going to have to be a sea change in PG&E’s method of operation.”

But PG&E officials have said they will still have to rely on the highly unpopular preventive power shutoffs they unveiled last year under certain weather conditions, albeit on a reduced, more-tailored scale.

Who’s going to prison? I mean besides all of the money paid out!!! This is why corporate law needs to change. The corporate person did nothing. Actual humans did something. The actual humans need to be charged with the crimes, not the legal fiction of a corporate person. I’m glad the district attorney decided to bring this matter into criminal court and prosecute PG&E...oh wait...

California coronavirus cases top 150,000 — and that's not counting anyone from the protestsThe number of coronavirus cases in California surged last week, with record tallies reported on consecutive days, but the spike still does not account for tens of thousands of people who have attended protests over the past few weeks across the state. Masks are as political as seatbelts are. WearAMask for: ▪️ppl w/cancer or compromised immune systems ▪️ppl w/lung or heart disease ▪️healthcare workers ▪️elderly parents & grandparents ▪️caregivers of sick family/friend ▪️firefighters/EMTs/paramedics ▪️yourself & your family Protests must not have caused a single case then, right?
