Pfizer Inc filed a lawsuit on Friday seeking to require the federal government to let it help Medicare beneficiaries afford two drugs to treat a rare and sometimes fatal heart condition, and which cost $225,000 a year.

Though the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in May 2019 approved both drugs, which are also known as tafamidis and which Pfizer has called a potential blockbuster, the New York-based drugmaker has drawn criticism for their costs. Drug companies cannot subsidize copayments for patients enrolled in Medicare, though they may donate to independent nonprofits that offer copay assistance.

It said the government’s restrictions violate its constitutional rights to due process and free speech.

Article doesn't explain why subsidizing Copays is illegal. I've written on it before. Quick answer is: 1 - Government views it as a bribe to patients for expensive medicines vs. cheaper alternatives 2 - Government wants some of the reduction

They had to sue! TrumpKillsUS

Bright idea: Instead of subsidizing it they could just sell it at a reasonable price. The basic premise of what they want to do is subsidize copayments so people can afford to have the government pay for the overpriced drug.

Pourquoi les prix sont si élevés? Simplement parce qu'il sauvé la vie de quelqu'un. Il n'y a aucune autre raison car ce ne sont pas les ingrédients dont ils se servent qui sont dispendieux. :(

'The drugmaker said the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Office of Inspector General is blocking it from offering financial aid to patients' Wow, the Government really doesn't care if ppl die does it? BernieSanders AOC tytinvestigates
