"He is doing OK. I think we dodged a bullet," said Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo, describing Carroll’s injury as a left knee contusion. "All the tests have come back very, very positive and he’s day to day. So, he was just trying to make a play and that’s who he is. I think the impact on his knee, fortunately it hit the padding on the fence and we dodged a bullet."

Emmanuel Rivera added three hits and Josh Rojas had a pair of hits, including a two-run single for the Diamondbacks, who have outscored the Rockies 20-5 in taking the first two games of the series. The Diamondbacks sent 10 men to the plate in their six-run second against rookie Noah Davis , who saw his ERA increase from 0.93 entering the game to 6.17 after allowing seven runs and seven hits in two innings.
