Azizi will tell you it doesn’t take long to see the light in America. Back in Afghanistan, the Taliban is forbidding girls from going to school. Azizi has only been here a short while and she’s been accepted into George Washington University to pursue a master’s degree. Now, she just needs to figure out how to pay for it. Navigating through FAFSA and scholarship applications is daunting even for higher education experts.
First Haitian Christian Assembly is located at 265 North Enola Dr. in what was a former Lutheran church.When a Haitian refugee in our area needs a place to live, it’s Pastor Costume and his wife Dieudonne, who work hard to find it. Niroula, Azizi and Pastor Costume have chosen a higher mission than just claiming their place in the next class of rich Americans. They have chosen to give all they can to help those like them who have escaped famine, persecution and war.
