President Biden has committed to withdrawing the last remaining U.S. troops from Afghanistan by Aug. 31, and the mounting terrorist threats come amid ongoing efforts to evacuate as many Americans and at-risk Afghans as possible before that deadline.

The Islamic State Khorasan, or ISIS-K, continues to pose an imminent threat to U.S. troops in Afghanistan as they prepare to leave the country ahead of Tuesday’s withdrawal deadline, according to Pentagon officials.

A U.S. paratrooper conducts security at Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul on Aug. 28, 2021. Army Maj. Gen. William Taylor said the targeted vehicle was “known to be an imminent ISIS-K threat,” and that “significant secondary explosions indicated the presence of a substantial amount of explosives.”

“This strike was not the last,” President Biden said in a statement on Saturday. “We will continue to hunt down any person involved in that heinous attack and make them pay.”A member of the Taliban forces stands guard as Afghan men in Kabul on Monday take pictures of a vehicle from which rockets were fired.

Overwhelming support for keeping US troops in Afghanistan until all Americans, Afghan allies, out: pollA new national poll indicates that most Americans want U.S. troops to remain at the airport in Kabul until all Americans as well as Afghans who aided the U.S. during the 20 year conflict in the war torn central Asian country are evacuated. Yea..after Trump’s deal all but allowed taliban to prosper to strengths they’ve never had, encircle the provinces and large enough to deter the afghan military from covering our exit, there is support? Amazing. All these people think that they had months to get out. Civilians yes but not the military. Like they can tell their superiors I'm done time to leave. But how? And with what? Trump removed billions of $ worth of military equipment, left only 2000 troops and signed a withdrawal deal with the Taliban. Tramp administration also refused any transfer of information. GOP has used this for party politics at the cost of lives.

Rockets target U.S. troops as Afghanistan withdrawal enters final stageHaving evacuated about 114,400 people, including foreign nationals and Afghans deemed 'at risk', in an effort that began a day before Kabul fell to the Taliban on Aug. 15, U.S. and allied forces are set to complete their own withdrawal by a Tuesday deadline agreed with the Islamist militants. The number of U.S. troops at the airport had fallen below 4,000 over the weekend, as departures became more urgent after an Islamic State suicide bomb attack outside the gates on Thursday killed scores of Afghans and 13 U.S. troops. Evacuated where to! The Afghanistan exit is about to end. Wonder what happens to the country now. Have all educated Afghans be flown out. Country been ripped apart! The terrorists are now in full control of Afghanistan. And Biden didn't appear on an aircraft carrier with a ***Mission Accomplished*** banner behind him.
