Mixed signals: Pentagon chief denies the U.S. plans to pull troops out of Iraq following reports of an American military letter about preparing to leave the country

Esper said Washington was still committed to countering Islamic State in Iraq, alongside allies and partners.

Khamenei led prayers at the funeral in the Iranian capital, pausing as his voice cracked with emotion. Soleimani, 62, was a national hero even to many who do not consider themselves supporters of Iran’s clerical rulers. The killing of Soleimani has prompted fears around the world of a broader regional conflict, as well as calls in the U.S. Congress for legislation to keep Trump from going to war against Iran.

Iran on Sunday dropped all limitations on its uranium enrichment, another step back from commitments under the deal, which Trump abandoned in 2018. Trump has vowed to strike 52 Iranian targets, including cultural sites, if Iran retaliates with attacks on Americans or U.S. assets, although U.S. officials sought to downplay his reference to cultural targets. The 52 figure, Trump noted, matched the number of U.S. Embassy hostages held for 444 days after the 1979 Iranian Revolution.Responding to Trump, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani wrote on Twitter on Monday: “Those who refer to the number 52 should also remember the number 290. #IR655.

More deception.

I would not be surprised, we pulled out of Syria, except the oil rich areas, Iraq can be next. Trump's plan is to thin America's presence but keep the oil flowing, forget alliances and the rule of International Agreements, it's all about the oil.

Don’t let them ask us twice POTUS....a blessing in disguise. 🇺🇸They can keep that embassy and whatever is in the fridge.

Pretty weak leadership.

Trump administration = Chaos

If Iraq parliament members that chosen by Iraq people ask US soldiers to leave, then US soldiers have to leave. Imagine if you have unwanted guest in your house and this guest killing your neighbour. US are egoist. Cannot think straight like normal people

No terrorist like America. Brutal. Inhuman. Insane.

Do I not have assets there?! Seriously... what am I gonna do: strip it... and just bomb the fuck outta everything, so it can never be used against Me?

That’s a huge loss for US troops having to leave Iraq, but I understand due to Pres Trump killing Gen Soleimina without communicating with Iraqi leadership. Gen Soleimina was also a guest of the Iraq Prime Minister - OUCH!

Chaos!
