A new study has found that Pennsylvania is the sixth overall state with the most power outages seen over the past two decades.

, the state’s Public Utility Commission found that Pennsylvania saw the highest amount of power outages its ever seen on record last year. The PUC further explained that each outage — of which there were 63 total — was tied to harsh weather conditions such as heavy snow, high winds, and thunderstorms.

“While some of the outage events could be attributed to aging infrastructure, the number of reportable outage events due to severe weather appear to be in frequency for all [electric distribution companies], including those that have strong infrastructure,” stated the PUC.has found the Keystone State to be the sixth overall in the U.S. that has seen the most power outages over the past two decades .

“The effects of extreme weather and outdated power infrastructure are increasingly causing Americans to feel powerless — literally and figuratively,” reads the study. “Knowing the stability of your local power grid can help you be prepared for potential power outages or even decide where to live.” The state that saw the most power outages over the past 20 years was California with a total of 2,684.
