Pelosi Invites Biden to Address Joint Session of Congress on April 28

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has invited President Biden to address a joint session of Congress on April 28.

In a letter to Mr. Biden, Mrs. Pelosi said she was asking the president “to share your vision for addressing the challenges and opportunities of this historic moment.” The date falls just before Mr. Biden’s 100th day in office.White House press secretary Jen Psaki said last week that the administration was working with congressional leaders on the date and logistics of a speech to a joint session.

Before he took office in January, Mr. Biden said that he expected his joint address to come the following month and that he would use the remarks to detail his recovery plan. The White House later said no date had been set for the remarks and has stressed that, given the pandemic. the plans for the speech might look different than in the past.
