A pedestrian is dead and two other people are injured after a Stevenson Expressway crash on Chicago's Southwest Side, Illinois State Police said. All southbound lanes are closed at Cicero Avenue.

ISP said the crash happened on Interstate 55 at Cicero Avenue just after 6:40 p.m. All southbound lanes are closed there.Three pedestrians were trying to change a tired on the passenger side of a vehicle stopped on the right shoulder of I-55 when a pickup truck left the roadway and traveled onto the shoulder, ISP said. The truck struck the stopped vehicle and two of the pedestrians.

ISP said one pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening-injuries and was later pronounced deceased. Another pedestrian and the pickup truck's driver were transported to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. The third pedestrian reported no injuries on the scene.

The crash investigation was active at 9 p.m. Authorities did not immediately provide further information about the crash.Related Topics
