Pedestrian killed, 2 hurt in Stevenson Expressway crash; all southbound lanes closed at Cicero Ave.

ByLive streaming newscasts, breaking news, weather & original, local programming.A pedestrian is dead and two other people are injured after a Stevenson Expressway crash on Chicago's Southwest Side, Illinois State Police said.

ISP said the crash happened on Interstate 55 at Cicero Avenue just after 6:40 p.m. All southbound lanes are closed there.Three pedestrians were trying to change a tired on the passenger side of a vehicle stopped on the right shoulder of I-55 when a pickup truck left the roadway and traveled onto the shoulder, ISP said. The truck struck the stopped vehicle and two of the pedestrians.

ISP said one pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening-injuries and was later pronounced deceased. Another pedestrian and the pickup truck's driver were transported to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. The third pedestrian reported no injuries on the scene.

The crash investigation was active at 9 p.m. Authorities did not immediately provide further information about the crash.Related Topics
