This was a pretty huge week for casting news. Glenn Close and Henry Winkler are working on a comedy together, Zach Cregger ’s Weapons added Alden Ehrenreich , Benedict Wong, and more to its already stacked cast, and Missy Elliott joined Pharrell Williams’ still-untitled coming-of-age musical. Beyond that, films continue to vie for buyers out of the Cannes market later this month.
Missy Elliott is the latest singer who will get her freak on in the project, a coming-of-age story set in 1977 Virginia Beach, where the producer grew up. She joins Kelvin Harrison Jr., Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Halle Bailey, and, as announced last week, Brian Tyree Henry. Ivanna Sakhno might be killed by a robot in M3GAN 2.0 Guys, it’s happening. We’re one step closer to witnessing the glory of M3GAN 2.0, a sequel to the delightful 2023 horror film M3GAN.
