Nearly the entirety of the Park City ski patrol union has voted to strike if negotiations with Vail Resorts fail. The 98% support, said union business manager Patrick Murphy, is “about as strong a message as we can send.”

“However, it does show that our membership is prepared to participate in a work stoppage if necessary,” they continued. “We understand that a strike has significant consequences reaching far beyond our membership. ... Ideally the company sees this authorization an indicator of our collective strength and offers us a reasonable contract without requiring further action.”

Vail Resorts did not immediately return a request for comment after the union’s announcement on Monday. “Tonight, our bargaining committee will be meeting with the company for [our 50th] bargaining session,” he said, “and we are hopeful that the company sees this authorization vote as an indicator of our collective strength and presents a reasonable contract proposal.”

Ski Patrol Jobs should pay $50 an hour full benefits at least, it’s not like Vail Resorts couldn’t afford it.

Protest until Vail has left the state.

Did I read that right? They are the LOWEST paid VailResorts employees in all of park city? The liftees, food staff, ticket counter are paid more than patrol?! VailResorts should be embarrassed and offer a bonus to them for even sticking around. Shameful

Chicago Public Schools Classes Canceled Again Monday As City, Teachers Union NegotiateAs a school showdown drags on for a second week, there is definitely no class for Chicago Public Schools on Monday. WASEEM BADAMI Unnecessary. Shame on the CTU. Teacher Unions want to discount opinions that do not have a child in the system. Yet, it is the landowners taxes paid that provide for the budgets that pay them their salaries, that pay for and heat their homes, food on the table… Teachers be part of a solution not obstruction.

Chicago Teachers Union offers a new proposal, but mayor says city officials 'will not relent'The standoff between the Chicago Teachers Union and city officials stretched into the weekend as the two sides continue to debate whether to return to the classroom amid a Covid-19 surge. ANYONE saying schools are safe, should go and do their work in these schools. Show everyone how 'safe' it is! Teachers unions are showing all taxpayers that public funded employee unions must be eliminated. There contracts must be negotiated with taxpayers; not bureaucrats; not politicians.
