20-year-old Wyatt Johnston and 21-year-old Logan Stankoven have shown they are dangerous weapons that could put a team over the edge in June.
Johnston is thriving in his second season playing among the best hockey players in the world. He’s the leading scorer on the best team in the Western Conference and a Stanley Cup contender.with Jake Oettinger, Jason Robertson and Miro Heiskanen turning heads from their first seasons in the league. But this season has shownmay be just as bright, as Johnston and Logan Stankoven — both of whom turn 21 this season — have given Dallas a spark during the most important time of the year.
Johnston didn’t have the ideal circumstances, either, entering his NHL career. He lost a season of development when the OHL canceled its 2020-21 season — his draft-eligible year — due to COVID-19. The Stars ultimately drafted him 23rd overall in 2021 after just a seven-game tryout two months prior when he helped Canada win gold at the U18 world championships in Frisco.
and became the youngest player in franchise history to record five points in a game during his hat trick against San Jose on March 5.
