Parents call for independent investigation into fatal shooting of their son by Pennsylvania state police

The teenager was in the middle of a mental health emergency and was holding a gun when Pennsylvania State Police fatally shot him on December 30, 2020, authorities say. Troopers responded to"a report of a distraught and suicidal male" standing on a bridge in Hamilton Township in Monroe County.

What the video showsJacob subpoenaed unedited video of the altercation from state police in April and the new footage -- which he received in July -- illustrates the PA State police"weren't equipped or trained on how to end the incident in a safe way," he said. "Pennsylvania State Police shot and killed an individual who was clearly surrendering which is an unlawful homicide," Jacob added.

So he was mentally unstable with a firearm. Being in a mental heath crisis doesn't give a free pass. The fire arm give you a the ability to hirt people at a significant distance. So yes, the possibility of you getting shot goes up drastically.

What do you Suppose would have happened if he dropped the gun after they repeatedly commanded him to? This was an obvious suicide by cop. Maybe the parents could open up about how their son got to that point instead of trying to inflame more racial tension
