'Parasite' star hopes film will help Japan-Korea cultural ties

“I hope we can go back to the early 2000s, and have an interest in each other’s works,” Song told reporters at the Japan National Press Club. “Japan and Korea are close countries and can relate to each other’s cultures.” Japanese filmgoers have embraced “Parasite” since it opened in the country on Jan. 10. The film rode its Oscar bounce to the top of the Japanese box office last weekend and has now become the top-grossing South Korean film in Japan of all time.

This director is anti-Japanese. He doesn't want friendship with Japan. The movie incorporates a song claiming Takeshima as Korean territory. Takeshima has been listed as a Japanese territory since ancient times in German, USA and UK sources. This director is provocative.

It makes me sad to hear that help is even needed. I understand. We all should just start listening. Quietly - with purpose of understanding and discovering the next question.

Oh my gosh just saw this last night and I can see why it won best picture! It’s an artsy and thought provoking film 🎞 but done very well so you can follow it. Was not what I was expecting but very enjoyable with all its twist and turns!!

Korea need to stop complaining about the war, if they want to improve relations with Japan. That’s all it takes. Japan has moved on, and Korea needs to do the same.

Stop the stupid racism. Humans will always find something to fight about. Racism is holding your countries back.
