Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Paramount+ will reportedly not go ahead with its Dungeons & Dragons live-action TV show, despite a series order. The arrival of 2023’s Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves breathed new life into the venerable D&D universe as an IP with the potential for live-action adaptation.
But Paramount+ has now evidently had second thoughts, as the streamer reportedly has shut down development on the planned D&D show, leaving the fantasy role-playing game’s owners Hasbro seeking other partners in bringing a potential series to life . What Happens Next With Hasbro’s Dungeons & Dragons Plans Paramount Pictures and Hasbro’s eOne were originally set to team on the now-canceled D&D show. In late 2023, eOne was sold to Lionsgate, leaving D&D show development in the hands of Hasbro Entertainment, the in-house production company behind the upcoming Transformers One, Monopoly, Clue and G.I. Joe: Ever Vigilant movies, among other projects.
With Paramount+ backing out of Dungeons & Dragons, Hasbro will now reportedly shop the show around to other potential partners. A new creative team will also reportedly take over. Red Notice director Rawson Marshall Thurber was originally hired to write the pilot script and direct the first episode, with Drew Crevello later joining as showrunner, but both appear to be out as the project gets a “creative update.
