Officially, Matt Waldron has one quality start on the season. It could be debated whether the six innings of one-run ball at Coors Field last month was nearly as good as beating the Atlanta Braves with a career-high 10 strikeouts over 5 ⅔ innings of one-run ball on Friday. Either way, Waldron is on a bit of a roll as he looks to send the Padres home on Thursday with a winning record and second straight series victory. First pitch at Great American Ball Park is at 10:10 a.m. The Padres are 26-26.
will serve as the DH as David Peralta gets the start in eight field, Ha-Seong Kim is back in the starting lineup after his first day off of the season and Kyle Higashioka is behind the plate to catch Waldron. Waldron followed the worst start of his career with 16 strikeouts over 11 innings of three-run ball against the Dodgers and Braves to get his season back on track. Waldron allowed four runs in six innings to the Reds last month at Petco Park.
