Among coronavirus variants currently most concerning for scientists and public health experts are the so-called British, South African and Brazilian variants, which appear to spread more swiftly than others. “However, we have not been able to properly ascertain its effect against severe disease and hospitalisation given that subjects were predominantly young healthy adults.”

If you’re not calling it the “Chinese” virus, why refer to its variants as “South African, “Brazilian” etc? The variants will spread far and wide from their origin, just as the original virus did.

will you make up your minds? firstly it was as effective then more effective then less effective..may as well just shut up cos your just making it up as you go along!

To be clear no one who got thr vaccine died or was hospitalized. That's essentially a win. Plus this is not peer reviewed and was a very limited trial but I guess still a valid headline

stop being obstructionist, and perpetuating discrimination. This variant has also been found in other countries where patients had no travel history. It's been widely said that the correct scientific term is 501.V2, and our world class Scientists did well to identify it.

You've just published a statement from AstraZeneca saying that their vaccine protects against the South Africa variant and prevents severe disease. Make your mind up what's the right message
