HauntedMansion star Owen Wilson revisits his 2003 appearance in Girl Skateboards’ Yeah Right! video to hilarious effect:

Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Haunted Mansion is a new film adaptation of the popular Disney ride, coming 20 years after the release of 2003’s The Haunted Mansion. Haunted Mansion’s stellar cast includes LaKeith Stanfield, Rosario Dawson, Danny DeVito, and Owen Wilson. Wilson plays Father Kent, a priest hired to help rid the film’s titular location of its ghosts and paranormal residents.

Although Owen Wilson has previously played a character hoping to survive paranormal threats , Haunted Mansion marks the first time Wilson has portrayed a priest in a blockbuster film. The actor is known for being able to turn in winning and relatable performances in films that span genres and budgets, even appearing in a skateboard video in which he rattles off trick names as smoothly as a hardcore skater and—thanks to a little body-doubling—does a few tricks down a handrail.

Owen Wilson: I don't know how I end up doing the things I do. [With] something like the skate video, it's funny that you mentioned that because I guess they're doing the 20-year anniversary, and so I was going to speak with [Spike Jonze] about that. That was just something [where] he called me up. I have no background in skateboarding other than having one as a kid, but learning all that dialogue was like Shakespeare. It was very daunting.

Owen Wilson’s Skateboard Video Appearance, Explained The skateboard video in question is Yeah Right! by Girl Skateboards, which was released in 2003. The film is one of the most influential skateboard videos of all time thanks not only to its groundbreaking skateboarding but its creative use of interstitial segments and sketches.

As impressive as the rest of Yeah Right! is, Owen Wilson’s appearance nearly stole the show. Despite the apparently daunting nature of the dialogue, Wilson played the part to perfection, causing many to wonder if the actor had a hidden past as a skater. Wilson was brought into the fold by Yeah Right! co-director Spike Jonze , who began his own filmmaking career making skateboard films.
