Teams to connect people who have experienced overdose with services and programs were announced Thursday for Saskatoon and Regina.

“It’s an outreach program. It’s not an enforcement program,” said Layne Jackson, chief of Regina Fire and Protective Services, who had earlier notedSaskatoon’s fire chief Morgan Hackl said his department has responded to some 900 overdose events so far in 2022., and was selected as someone with medical skills and assessment capabilities should the need for them arise, Jackson said.
