CANTON , Ohio - Body camera showed two officers with their knee on Tyson’s back and him telling officers he couldn’t breathe.“Another soul snatched away not be a criminal not by a foreign power but by the very people sworn to protect,” said Ahmad Chima. “A knee on his back, a body pressed down, the air choked from his lungs. They heard the cries I can’t breathe but they didn’t listen.”
Officers say when they saw he was unresponsive, they gave him CPR and several doses of Narcan. He was taken to the hospital where he died.Local activists and canton community members called on the city to hold the officers involved in his death accountable. The Stark County NAACP and Urban League are holding a social justice town hall on behalf of Tyson Wednesday where they will continue the conversation.
