Some nursing homes have demanded that low-income residents turn over their $1,200 economic stimulus checks.

Low-income Medicaid recipients must not be “coerced into wrongly handing over their checks for fear of being kicked out of their homes,” wrote Neal and Pallone. Any funds taken must be returned.outbreaks at nursing homes and long-term care facilities, about a third of the national toll, according to a running tally by The Associated Press.

The nursing home industry says if there’s a problem, it’s not that common. “We are not aware of widespread issues with resident stimulus funds,” the American Health Care Association said in a statement. Some nursing homes were claiming that if a resident was on Medicaid, the facility would get to keep the $1,200 stimulus payment.

But lawmakers said Congress structured the payments as a tax credit, not as taxable income. They were part of the, passed to provide an economic lifeline as the pandemic shut down much of the nation’s business activity.

That is unbelievable that the nursing home would even consider taking the stimulus money from the resident in the first place. Shame on you!

Health care for profits huh?

They take all your income~some do

Even after a pandemic and race riots vultures will try to get your money.

Come on man,, get the money from the federal government, I didn't like the bill.. Let me be very clear., The answer is I would call out the military., I'm not gonna stop anymore, all right? . Let 's get our memory as a country

I saw a patient last week who lives in a local nursing home. They're giving her $40/week out of her stimulus check. Made a referral to long term care ombudsman and adult protection for financial exploitation of an elder.

GREED plain and simple.

Not really a bad idea given the fact that some of these nursing homes have sacrificed a lot for them when they’re unable to make payments or even pay in full. This is not to be politicized. Businesses are making sacrifices and it’s only fair they get rewarded one way or the other

Crooks

Why don’t these so-called Hollywood celebrities cough up the money🤔😡😡😡

Nursing home mangt doesn't protect residence big portions of them sometimes up to 50% of the people that died from covid-19 and now they're taking their $1,200 stimulus check that went to everybody to spend they want to put it in their pocket for profit.😡😡😡😡😡

That’s nasty!

Wow fuck all those nursing homes who are doing this. Always picking on those who cant defend themselves. This country really is trash. 😡
