The crisis of democracy is a media crisis. And the mainstream press is losing

Acquitted at trial last week after killing two unarmed men at a Black Lives Matter protest, Rittenhouse visited Carlson’s Fox News show on Monday.— the teen who brought an AR-15 rifle to a Black Lives Matter protest and who was charged with killing two unarmed men and maiming another — Carlson assured viewers that Rittenhouse was a patriot, not a racist.

The asymmetrical nature of the media is both a byproduct of and a fuel for the asymmetrical nature of modern partisanship: While Todd is interviewing Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, about practical ways of surviving the pandemic, Fox Nation host Lara Logan is comparing Biden’s chief medical adviserIn these circumstances, even newsrooms not in thrall to the hard-right cabal would be hard-pressed to strike the right tone, to see the big picture, to...

After an overwhelming year, in a challenging-in-the-best-of-times business, it might seem harsh to blame the old-school press for not assembling the pieces of the puzzle into a warning siren for our system of government. But it isn’t enough to hope that 2022 will magically offer solutions to either our media crisis or our democratic one. It will require swift and forceful change. Otherwise, the joke’s on us.

Regarding our local politicians, the LA Times is totally bias. It won't report on the horrendous policies and failures of Councilmember Mike Bonin. It prints his words but refuses to reveal the truth. Im a Democrat, as are the vast majority who want him Recalled. He's evil.

Then stop selling out as a leftist tabloid. Report just the facts without incessant commentary, instead of promoting political agendas and farting opinions.

The crisis of democracy is democracy.

You could start by reporting facts in stead of opinions.

what an embarrassing exercise of projection

Fake news SUCKS!

What are you smoking? This is Orwellian in its denial of reality.

I hardly even skimmed this. Just the same old thing. We stopped taking this paper a long time ago. Same old stuff, pretending the media hasn't been a collaborator in destroying the nation. Advocating for even more one-sided reporting. Squandered the public trust. You're done.

The mainstream press are a scotch away from criminals. At best they’re Pravda for the TheDemocrats, at worst they’re Det Sturmer.

You say this like it’s a bad thing.

'Nobody is believing our lies' - LA Times

Lol, LA Times claiming right wing media is guilty of being one sided and fear mongering. And this gem: 'The careful, equitable reporting of “PBS NewsHour” and NPR remains a valuable public service' Lolololol

Look at my Twitter feed. I've been posting your democracy-murdering headlines and stories. DrPatSoonShiong broke on purpose to achieve this.

Is this a joke.

JFC, YOU are part of the problem and it's been going on for YEARS, long before Trump or Biden. Many people have woken up to your lies and bias. Take yourselves to task and become REAL journalists again instead of the left-wing meat puppets you actually are
