In a speech that began to ramble somewhat, Smith also said he wanted to “apologize to the Academy and fellow nominees,” saying this “is a beautiful moment.” But he also said, “Love will make you do crazy things” and referred to working in a tough business in which “you got to be able to take abuse, you got to be able to have people talk crazy about you” and “disrepect you.”
For viewers, the shocking moment that Smith struck Rock left them wondering if it was part of some staged comic moment, at which Smith would act offended at Rock’s joke at Pinkett Smith’s expense. Rock was presenting the award for best documentary feature when he quipped about how he couldn’t wait to see “G.I. Jane,” starring Jada Pinkett Smith.
But Pinkett Smith’s bald look isn’t due to some TV or movie role she’s starring in. She has been open in recent years about her diagnosis with alopecia, an autoimmune disorder that causes one’s hair to fall out, often in clumps.
