A consultant will help Orland Park evaluate structures at three historic sites, including the threshing barn at Boley Farm.
The Boley farm, with structures that date to the mid-1800s, is on the south side of 151st Street west of 80th Avenue. The property has been owned since June 2001 by the village, which paid $560,000 for the six-acre property as part of the village’s open lands initiative. The Boley property had been eyed for redevelopment, with multifamily housing planned, before the village’s acquisition.
The John Humphrey House, 9830 W. 144th Place, was recently acquired by the village from the Orland Park Historical Society and has been included on the National Register of Historic Places since 2005. The focus of work would include waterproofing the home’s foundation, tuckpointing and masonry repair along with mechanical and electrical work, according to the village. The repairs are estimated to cost more than $300,000.Stellwagen Farm, north of 179th Street on the east side of 108th Avenue, was acquired by the village in 2002.
