Orange County's largest school districts won't comply with Board of Education vote to return to classroom

Some of the largest school districts in Orange County, California, say they will not follow their board of education's recommendation to return students and teachers to the classroom.

The Orange County Board of Education approved its recommendations on Monday for the reopening of schools in the fall. The board voted 4-1 to approve a set of guidelines, including regular temperature checks, frequent hand washing and thorough cleanings of classrooms, offices and buses. The board did not, however, require the use of masks or social distancing. In fact, it advised against the measures.

They must be really proud of themselves!!!! Taking easy way out and only thinking about themselves. Never mind science says kids not really affected and don’t consider the children’s social, mental, and educational success!!! Selfish!!!!

The county board sounds like a group that of ignorant Trumpers... recommending opening schools because kids K-12 don’t get sick, social distancing and face masks don’t work. Thank goodness for more informed local boards that are putting health over right wing stupidity

What about firefighters, grocery & retail employees, police and other employees who are working. Isn’t education an essential service that community members pay for? Many parents will loose their jobs without schools opening and kids need education.

Reopening schools anywhere there isn't sufficient testing and contact tracing puts the entire community at severe risk. Have we learned nothing from forcing a fast reopening of bars and restaurants? We can't even wear masks ffs. No way this is safe.
