“The wording on the resolution is quite antisemitic,” Ullner told council June 5. “I’ve heard from numerous members of our village that they’re quite upset about it. Ullner did so, and Council President Brent Silver seconded it. Then council voted to pass the motion.On June 5, Ullner also encouraged interested residents to attend the County Council’s next meeting at 5 p.m. Tuesday to share their thoughts about the resolution.

“I understand that not moving forward with this anyway, but I think it is important that we still pass this to send a message,” Silver said.Ullner added, “I think it makes a statement to the council.” “Divesting from Israel on a large scale could contribute to the eradication of the world’s only Jewish state, which was founded as a country that is safe for Jewish people to inhabit without the fear of government attempting to kill them for merely being of Jewish descent,” the resolution states.
