Shan Wu: Ted Cruz's Supreme Court case could make it easier to bribe politicians. - NBCNewsTHINK

At issue in the Cruz case is whether candidates can raise unlimited amounts of money through campaign donations after elections to be paid directly to themselves as repayment for personal loans. Currently, the FEC places no limits on how much candidates can lend their campaigns, but it limits how much money campaigns can repay lawmakers to no more than $250,000.

The Ted Cruz for Senate campaign took this case to the Supreme Court by having Cruz intentionally lend and seek repayment of $260,000 — just $10,000 over the limit — seemingly for the purposes of arguing that the limit violates the First Amendment.

The decision removed any barrier for corporations and outside groups like PACs to donate money, ultimately resulting in massive amounts of dark money flooding our elections. Some estimate that dark money groups have spent as much as $1 billion since the 2010 Citizens United decision.

Opinion: Novak Djokovic would have been better off in the US Supreme CourtThe world's No.1-ranked tennis player, Novak Djokovic, won't compete in the Australian Open this week after an Australian court unanimously ruled to deport the Serbian tennis star. It's really too bad for Djokovic, Dean Obeidallah writes, that he didn't have his case heard before the United States Supreme Court, which has apparently become just as partisan as the rest of the GOP when it comes to opposing Covid-19 mandates. Australia has fallen to tyranny shanemcinnes Totally deceptive headline, this would not have helped him as he is not a US citizen and work for a US company! Currently non US citizens need to be fully vaccinated to travel to the US. Previous infection in the prior 6 months is NOT accepted as an exemption... Thousands of DV2022winners are crying; begging for their dreams; which they've won after decades of attempts. They're ready to pay any price but they can't bear losing their lifetime chance. We've faith in media;it can deliver their voices to the authorities. Please 🙏help them.

Supreme Court justices aren't 'scorpions,' but not happy campers eitherIt was pretty jarring earlier this month when the justices of the U.S. Supreme Court took the bench for the first time since the omicron surge over the holidays. All were now wearing masks. All, that is, except Justice Neil Gorsuch.
