We are the sum of our faults and our strengths.

By David Von Drehle David Von Drehle Columnist focusing on national affairs and politics Email Bio Follow Columnist April 16 at 12:56 PM “In youth we have warm hopes, which are soon blasted by rashness and negligence,” wrote the great sage Samuel Johnson. “In age, we have knowledge and prudence without spirit to exert, or motives to prompt them.”

It showed itself on the 12th hole, the most famous test on the most famous course in the United States. Its manicured beauty frames a severe test of skill; less obvious is the test of character it applies. At 43, Woods is old in golf years. The rash power of his youthful swing has taken its toll through four back surgeries. So when he stepped into the tableau of the 12th hole on Sunday, his dream of winning another major title seemed just beyond his grasp. Beautiful writing. Thank you Tiger Woods for showing us the person you are.

Were there any women sportwriters who've had their faith restored in Tiger? Just wondering.

I've a lot of esteem and respect for Tiger Woods, who, despite the difficulties he has experienced in his career, was able to get up and up to the point of winning the Masters on April 14th. hat beats to the big champion

And hitting 3-wood on 18. Old man golf at its finest.

i mean that's kinda how golf works, right?

As much as I'd love to patronize the paper that was once an trusted source, speaking truth to power, I just can't bring myself to spend money on what you've become. It's truly a shame.

I don't understand how Woods can seriously consider accepting the Medal of Freedom from someone inciting death threats against a practicing Muslim congresswoman; a major faith of his mother's country of birth?

F him

What bullshit. Both guys were in the water. He had no choice but to play safe

Fuk TigerWoods and fuk realDonaldTrump too. What's next? Everyone rooting for a kanyewest comeback?

This may be his final season. Maybe he will take the world of Golf by storm for one last run

Love Tiger! But the Presidential medal of freedom? No Way

Am so crazy about this guy thst if he was a woman i would have come proposing !!!

it's not how many times 'we fall,' but 'how many times' we can get 'back up.'
