Opinion: The threat of Bernie Sanders, jamescdownie writes

Sen. Bernie Sanders at a town hall event in Bethlehem, Pa., on Monday. By James Downie James Downie Digital opinions editor Email Bio Follow Opinions editor April 17 at 4:26 PM Monday was supposed to be a rough day for Sen. Bernie Sanders . First, the Vermont senator and candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination would finally release 10 years of tax returns after months of foot-dragging; many assumed the returns must contain something bad if their release was so delayed.

The matter of What To Do About Bernie and the larger imperative of party unity has, for example, hovered over a series of previously undisclosed Democratic dinners in New York and Washington organized by the longtime party financier Bernard Schwartz. The gatherings have included scores from the moderate or center-left wing of the party, including Speaker Nancy Pelosi of California; Senator Chuck Schumer of New York, the minority leader; former Gov.

At the root of this is the power of the dollar. As The Post’s Dave Weigel pointed out, what scares Democrats most about a Sanders nomination is “the thing they can’t really say: Howard Schultz would charge in and hand the election to Trump.

jamescdownie The threat of Bernie Sanders is simply that, with Russia’s help, he will once again put Donald Trump in the White House. Operative word: “again.“

jamescdownie Correction, in a General election, voters are what he will be lacking.

jamescdownie SenSanders will get Trump re-elected.

jamescdownie Thank you. The DNC's 700 club of power brokers are in fact badly shaken by Sanders for two reasons. He may get the nomination but cannot win. The money flow which is central to the DNC will dry up.

jamescdownie Funny how we know, out of millions of people, which store sold the jackpot but election votes take months. Fuckin' rigged, is why, thanks to your ever loving Obama.

jamescdownie A threat to Jeff bezos , wp, Amazon

jamescdownie Bernie2020 will win.

jamescdownie Sanders would be an awful President. He’s divisive, doesn’t work well with others, and is so anti-establishment it’s difficult to see how he would manage being the executive for a country as complex and important as the US is.

jamescdownie I gotta tell you, you guys are f$%'ed down there. Goodnight!

jamescdownie I'D SAY THE PUPPET WHITE SLAVEMASTER NEWSJEWS ARE THE THREAT BEHIND THE SMALLER DEMOCRAT THREAT.

jamescdownie Should think about bringing election forward. Bernie is not getting any younger

jamescdownie Yeah it's really scary to think that all children might have healthcare

jamescdownie Yes! A Socialist; who's capitalist book sales had made him a millionaire. Yet, hates capitalism. Watched the BernieSanders town-hall interview. All he did was deflect questions back to POTUS without answering any of them. The biggest joke here; is people who think he real.

jamescdownie Just as the progressives have been saying all along. It's not that the Dem leadership is scared Sanders will lose, they're afraid he'll win.

jamescdownie Bullshit. Stop with the nonsense. Bernie is the only real Democrat in the race. He's the only real Democrat since FDR for that matter.

jamescdownie Yeah, he threatens to destroy America by making it Venezuela. Sadly, his followers, largely young people who don’t yet know how life works, think FREE means FREE. It means you can’t buy things, like your pot, or go on trips. Don’t buy that only “the rich” will pay. Not enough $$$

jamescdownie this is a republican point of view! Only that!

jamescdownie It's also the loss of voters. If it ever comes down Trump and Bernie, I will vote for Trump (as much as I can't stand Trump). How do you like that Bernie and your supporters?

jamescdownie

jamescdownie Even if he doesn't win the nomination, again, his ideas will eventually be implemented

jamescdownie

jamescdownie Great piece, jamescdownie.

jamescdownie The threat of Socialism.

jamescdownie Threat to Corporate Democrats. And the owner of this paper.

jamescdownie The threat on Russian loving racist huh? well you don't say? Naked in Russia singing the RUSSIAN NATIONAL ANTHEM OH MY DRIVE BY MEDIA HOW FUNNY THAT YOUD SMEAR THE HELL OUT OF TRUMP FOR THIS THEN AVOID THE SMEAR OF SenSanders

jamescdownie I love to see this.

jamescdownie

jamescdownie Threat of Bernie could be lengthy and noisy farts issued by him, that threaten had significant impact!

jamescdownie

jamescdownie The United Corporations of America are scared of a Sanders presidency because they know he’s honest, he means what he says and that he wants to unfuck their rigged system. Welcome to the fuckshow.

Bernie Sanders Denies Closure Of Vermont Nuclear Plant Increased Emissions -- The Data Says OtherwiseBernie Sanders' truthfulness has come into question with his denial that the closure of Vermont Yankee nuclear plant contributed to a 16% rise in the state’s greenhouse gas emissions. This might be the most disingenuous line of questioning ever. The powerplant closed in December of 2014, didn't have the fuel removed until sometimes in 2015. What's the date of the last few years now that the reactor is gone? jordanbpeterson your point exactly from a few months back I believe.
