Opinion: The U.S. should reassess its role in the conflict between India and Pakistan—and come down firmly on India’s side, writes ElbridgeColby

The moment of maximum danger in the latest India-Pakistan conflict appears to have passed.

But after a major attack by Pakistani militants on an Indian military base in Kashmir and the first Indian air strike on Pakistan proper since 1971, tensions are still smoldering between the two South Asian nuclear powers. The episode highlights the need for the U.S. to reassess its role in this volatile part of the world—and to come down firmly on India’s side.

eoiberlin ElbridgeColby The divide-and-rule policy only helps US military-industrial complex aided by Zionists and other fascists.

ElbridgeColby Bull Crap

ElbridgeColby Pakistan is a terrorist breeding ground little else.

ElbridgeColby Does our President know where these countries are actually located? That would be a good start ; a President with a basic working knowledge of elementary geography as opposed to a big mouth.

ElbridgeColby AMERICA ISRAEL N INDIA R TERRORIST COUNTRIES N NATURAL ALLIES THEIR DESTRUCTION . WITHOUT THERE DESTRUCTION WORLD CAN'T LIVE IN PEACE .

ElbridgeColby POTUS narendramodi India stands for human values & peaceful coexistence.Pakistan stands for terrorism &mass murder of innocents. If today decisive and strongly punitive actions are not taken by powerfull nations whom Pakistan fears, world will see own innocents murdered.

ElbridgeColby I hadn’t considered taking sides, but if WSJ Opinion says India, Pakistan it is.

ElbridgeColby Dear India: Be opportunistic. Take USA’s support. But always remember US foreign policy is capricious. So don’t become reliant on US support.

ElbridgeColby Of course we should be on India’s side. Pakistan is not our friend, hard line Muslims with a layer of self serving scumbags.

ElbridgeColby Should this really be about taking sides? Shouldn't the U.S. avoid taking sides? It will be hard to get Pakistan to listen to the U.S. if we're seen as backing India.

ElbridgeColby The challenge is that a lot of geo-political decisions are driven by self -preservation and -interest veiled as national interests. A government will align with a side which has the prospect of giving it 'return' in the long-term.

ElbridgeColby agreed

ElbridgeColby How about this. We don't take a side.
