Opinion: Some people still want their daily U.S. Postal Service mail delivery [Opinion]

” : While there are now many forms of communication that didn’t exist years ago, I strongly disagree with the letter writer and hope I will continue to receive my daily mail for years to come. I look forward to opening my mailbox every day to an assortment of catalogs, bills and every once in a while, a letter, an announcement or an invitation from a friend or relative.

I love saying hi to our mail carrier, who always has a friendly smile as he goes from house to house in his little white truck. I’ll never get that from an email. The letter writer suggests the U.S. Postal Service cut back its delivery of residential mail to keep that agency “running at a profit.” Just a guess: the federal highway system, Homeland Security, the EPA, our military, the Congress , and almost every federal agency do not turn a profit.

Perhaps if we quit the unreasonable expectation that our government should function as a business, it can more efficiently do its job: form a more perfect union, establish justice, ensure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity. Very profitable indeed.

Opinion | Someone tell Bette Midler that the word 'woman' has not been bannedTrans rights are no threat to women’s rights. On the contrary, the two are complementary. ryanlcooper Such a trash take. Imagine attacking Bette Midler, of all people, for supposedly not supporting the LGBT community just because she makes a distinction between women and trans women. She's talking about abortion, something trans women obviously don't deal with. ryanlcooper You can value both women and trans without diminishing either. But to tell a woman she is a transphobic because she doesn’t want to word “ woman” to be erased from the vocabulary is misogynistic. Being equal doesn’t mean being the same.We can and should celebrate the word WOMAN ryanlcooper Once again . 2 genders male & female. Deal with it
