'Companies are likely to be more accepting of employee requests to work from home, and some could even make entire operations remote,' writes Alexander Alonso for CNNBusiness Perspectives.

The coronavirus has fundamentally changed every aspect of business — from our commute to our work environment to how we interact with our colleagues.

Business is not running as usual — that much is certain. Research from the Society for Human Resource Management found 71% of employers are struggling to adjust to remote work, 65% say maintaining employee morale has been a challenge, and more than a third are facing difficulties with company culture. While this paints a grim picture, it also presents an opportunity to reshape and reinvent the workplace for a post-Covid-19 reality.

Business I wish these polls wouldn’t include the challenges to keeping up employee morale during a pandemic. There is nothing the HR team can do to keep a smile on my face people are dying, and it’s an unrealistic measure of how ecstatic I would be to WFH normally.

Business I’m hoping my s/o’s job offers permanent work from home in the future. I can work anywhere with what I do, but his employer only has seven locations and his speciality is only at one of those locations. I’d love to move somewhere more affordable where we can have a bigger yard.

Business Are you sure that picture isn't just from the Stanley Parable?

Business Good! No more pointlessly sitting in bumper to bumper traffic. And no Karen not everyone wants to hear your AM radio station talk show. You’re not doing anyone a favor with filling the space with more noise.

Business Most jobs should be done remotely. Why spend so much money on administration offices when they can do the same job from home now.

Business Working from home will allow workers to do whatever the hey they want. Run errands? Watch TV? Entertaining children? Nobody is watching them. Cushy job.

Business The “open concept” office is a productivity killer. Noisy, full of distractions, disruptions. Conference rooms were designed for collaborative meetings. When my office went “open” 6 yrs ago, I went home. I’m far more productive & accurate w/o being in the middle of chatter.

Business In many parts of the country this has been a growing SOP for years. Glad to see the rest of the country adopt these cost saving options that staff welcome wholeheartedly. Let’s cut down on the wasted time and expense of inefficient organizational operations.
