New Yorkers who have arrived in the two decades since Rudy Giuliani cleaned up the streets take for granted that they can comfortably take a subway late at night. But for how much longer? Public order is eroding as the city’s progressive leaders have slammed the brakes on “broken-windows” policing.
Consider 23-year-old subway saboteur Isaiah Thompson, who was arrested last week—for the 18th time. Mr. Thompson was released without bail after being charged with reckless endangerment and criminal trespassing for riding outside...
opinion DeBlasio has destroyed NYC in every way possible.
opinion Rudy. Rudy. Rudy.
opinion Tell new York mayor to focus more on his city than campaigning.
opinion I guess it's 'Bring it all down, man!' Woof! ARF!
opinion Kind of like how DOJ ignores all the crime from the Trump Administration, campaign, organization, family, etc.
opinion Not a surprise
opinion Do for America what you’ve done for New York City, no thanks.
opinion NYC is a sh1thole, simply put.
opinion 40 years of citywide gentrification financed by plundered baby boomer generation retirement savings is what turned NYC from just another failed 1970s manufacturing town into the Sex And The City playground it is today.
opinion DeBlasio is the worst thing that happened to NY since 9/11
opinion Typical Wall Street Journal Establishment punitive 'balance'. Jail for the subway free riders but free bailouts and asset handouts for Wall Street banking and mortgage thieves.
opinion Big question is it as safe to walk on NYC streets as it was when Giuliani was mayor. Yes or no?
opinion Why doesn't NYC pass a city income tax on all income of any kind, and dedicate it to making all public trains and buses clean and very inexpensive (or even free) . Why ride on the outside of trains and be bitter when you can ride inside in comfort and be happy?
opinion Makes sense. Crime generally flows to places where by outward appearances a reasonable person can conclude that the locals don't give a shit. It signals that a would-be criminal is less likely to be reported, so they go where they're treated 'best.'
opinion Sounds like the one guy the highlighted is a subway surfer in addition to being violent and a thief in other ways (conversion/enrichment, not just getting free rides for himself). The WSJ will use this example to say that everyone needs to be rounded up and held.
opinion Straight up, unadulterated bulls***. Putting aside the total lack of any evidence in the article showing that crime is actually rising, “broken windows” never worked in the first place its fans just took credit for an INTERNATIONAL drop in crime that started around that time.
opinion It is of one's personality and behavior along with that of being a responsible person for those that commit crimes.
opinion Our beloved cellphones make it possible to update the 4th Amendment. We can change the law to limit cops’ power of arrest to 9|11 phone call complaints, thereby abolishing police patrols
opinion Giuliani everyone now knows is racist. It was and is an excuse for racist policing. Cut it out WSJ
opinion No. You don’t get to have an opinion like this without data to back it up. Try again
