Georgia's decision to reopen safely is the reason many of the state's businesses lived to fight another day, writes Gov. Brian Kemp.

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp speaks as his wife Marty Kemp looks on during a run-off election night party at Grand Hyatt Hotel in Buckhead January 5, 2021 in Atlanta, Georgia. One year ago, none of us could have imagined the challenges we would face as a nation. Here in Georgia — similar to the rest of the country — our economy was growing at a rapid pace, unemployment was at its lowest in state history, and more Georgians were finding high-quality, sustainable jobs.

We fulfilled a cardinal obligation of our state government and passed a balanced budget that reflected our priorities – health care, public safety, education, and economic opportunity.for the remaining months of the 2021 fiscal year, which includes no new cuts to state agencies, no furloughs, and no widespread layoffs of state employees.Under the Gold Dome here in Atlanta, we have prioritized both the health and wellbeing of our people, and their paychecks.

It was our business community who made sure that our health care heroes had the resources they needed to care for Georgia's most vulnerable, and when the legislature reconvened, we knew we had to support them.to incentivize in-state production of PPE and ensure we supported Georgia Made entrepreneurs providing critical supplies.

Don’t forget the next story - “Here’s how GaSecofState and GovKemp betrayed Georgia and America during the 2020 election”. Winter is coming

Georgia_AG Here’s my op-ed: 9,000 cases in a single day, more than 838,000 total, 12,838 deaths so far. And you want to take a victory lap?

GovKemp Accurate headline: Here's how we denied support to small biz, leading to so many permanent closures, and made nonessential workers go back in June and bring Covid home to their families. Oh, but Georgia kept it's AAA bond rating. opinionmyown

Georgia_AG What't the cumulative death toll of the half measures to date? We could have controlled it early but didn't.

He kept it open irresponsibly and now Georgia is paying the price. This is a photo from the Beltline yesterday in Atlanta.

GovKemp

CodyHallGA Who wants to tell CNBC and Brian Kemp? Kemp care will cost Georgians more than it would have for him to fully expand Medicaid. Failed Governor in a state on fire with covid. SHAME

GovKemp Open the schools!

GovKemp Today is another record number of COVID deaths in our state. Go anywhere and maybe half are wearing masks. Many of our fellow Georgians clearly lack common sense. Masks are not a violation of civil liberties any more than seat belts are. Stop talking and start enforcing!!

GovKemp In times where there is no perfect answer, you have balanced decisions to fight both the direct and indirect consequences of this pandemic. People deserve to work, feed their families and stay in their homes. I have never been so thankful to live in a free state like GA.

GovKemp Over 13,000 Georgians are now dead, becasue of your greed, and you lie and say you are prolife, you don't care about our lives. 171 Georgians died today.

GovKemp Bragging about the money a few business owners saved at the expense of thousands of vibrant lives is peak GOP

GovKemp Resign

GovKemp But look at the amount of deaths from pandemic that could of been avoided!

GovKemp 🙄 LimpKemp

GovKemp Yeah, reopening early cost only 12k+ dead Georgians. Worth it?
