One of two women who ditched a San Diego transitional re-entry facility over the weekend was found Monday in Orange County, but the second woman remains at large, state prison officials said.Diana Sanchez and Janelle Rice walked away from the Custody to Community Transitional Reentry Program in Kearny Mesa late Saturday night, California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation officials said in a news release.
Right after witnesses told staffers they saw the pair leaving, officials received alerts that each woman’s ankle monitor had been tampered with. State corrections agents began searching for two. Rice, 32, who is serving a four-year sentence from San Bernardino County for robbery and burglary, was found and arrested about 8:45 a.m. Monday in the city of Stanton, corrections officials said.Sanchez, 31, remained missing Monday. Sanchez was sent to state custody in March to serve a five-year sentence for burglary and an identity theft-related charge out of Los Angeles County.
Authorities ask that anyone with information about Sanchez’s whereabouts notify law enforcement or call 911.
