One student dead in shooting at suburban Denver school, police say; seven other students injured

The suspects are in custody, officials in Douglas County say. Sheriff Tony Spurlock said neither of the shooters — one is an adult and one is a juvenile — was injured.They were able to get deep inside the school, Spurlock said, and began shooting. Within about two minutes, Spurlock said, the first deputy arrived and confronted a suspect. Shots were fired, and deputies struggled with the suspects before taking them into custody, he said.

The injured students, some of whom were in surgery in critical condition as Spurlock spoke, were 15 years old or older, he said. Five patients had been admitted to Littleton Adventist Hospital, according to spokeswoman Wendy Forbes. Four were in serious condition and one in fair condition. With so many students at the school, Spurlock said shortly after 6 p.m., “we are frantically trying to identify every one of those and making sure we can connect them with their parents.”

As a parent with school age kids, this is my worst nightmare. Please don’t publish the names or images of the asshole shooters. Please do make sure you identify where they got their weapons, the type and how many they had.

I am sad and would like to hear about this student and the others before we hear anything about the perpetrators.

Just to let everybody know this no amount of gun laws or background checks will ever cure the root issue of this problem and why it keeps happening, and that is mental health as long as they don't address the issue the main issue this will keep happening again and again.
